Dr. Marc Allen
Dr. Allen has been a dedicated long Islander his entire life. He grew up in Commack, on the North Shore of Long Island. He subsequently attended Stony Brook University where he graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Dual Major in Psychology and Biochemistry. In his pre-Med years at Stony Brook he spent much of his time involved with AIDS and HIV research.
Dr. Allen began his Medical education at the New York College of Osteopathic Medical School which is known especially for it focus on Primary Care and Preventative Medicine. He flourished in his education, scoring a 99th percentile on all three parts of his Medical School Board Exams. He achieved Deans List Recognition in nearly all of his coursework. He was also one of the founding members of the Phi Alpha Sigma National Honor Society.
After landing his first choice in the National Medical Residency Match Program, he soon entered North Shore University Hospital’s renowned and revered Primary Care Track Internal Medicine Residency Program. This is a very competitive program for selected Physicians that decide early on that their goal is Primary Care and Disease Prevention. Candidates must demonstrate their academic ability to absorb the vast amount of ever growing multi- specialty knowledge. Dr. Allen quickly stood out amongst his peers for his intellectual abilities and teaching skills. He was subsequently nominated for North Shore University Hospitals’ highest recognition of academic achievement and was given the title “Best Teaching Resident”.
After completing his Residency training in 2002, he sat for the American Board of Internal Medicine Exams. Again, he scored the highest possible score possible landing him in the top 10 percent of Internists in the Country. Dr. Allen is currently an active member of the American Medical Association and the New York State Medical Society. He is now a Diplomate of the American Board Of Internal Medicine and is recognized for his participation in their Maintenance of Certification Program. He has never had a Malpractice Claim against him in his almost 20 years of training. He currently serves as an attending physician at both Huntington Hospital and St. Catherines Hospital in Smithtown.
Dr. Allen currently holds the title of Assistant Clinical Professor at both Hofstra North Shore-LIJ Medical school as well as the New York College of Osteopathic Medical School. He dedicates much of his time to Educating Medical Students in Primary Care and Disease Prevention. These Medical Students can often be seen with Doctor Allen side by side meeting and interacting with his Patients.
In 2016, Dr. Allen, together with Dr. Jennifer McMonigle, opened the Allen-McMonigle Medical Associates Medical Building. A newly constructed 5,000 square foot State of the Art Medical facility serving the Smithtown Area.
Dr. Allen currently resides in Fort Salonga with his Wife and 2 children. He enjoys playing the Piano and practicing the Martial Arts.
Dr. Jennifer McMonigle
Dr. McMonigle grew up in West Hempstead, New York. She completed her undergraduate education at SUNY Cortland where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Major in Biology and a Minor in Chemistry and Sociology. During her undergraduate years she worked as a laboratory assistant conducting Stem Cell Research.
After college Dr. McMonigle attended The NYU masters in biology program while working as a teaching assistant for the undergraduate program.
Dr. McMonigle began her Medical Education at The New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. After graduating Medical school in 2001 she completed an internship in internal medicine at Nassau University Medical Center and subsequently began her Residency training in Neurology at Stony Brook University Hospital. During her last year of residency she served as chief resident. Following residency Dr McMonigle continued at Stony Brook University to complete a fellowship in Clinical Neurophysiology.
Dr McMonigle is a Diplomat of the American board of Neurology where she has held board certification since 2007. She is an active Member of the American Academy of Neurology.
In 2016, Dr. McMonigle together with Dr. Marc Allen, opened the Allen-McMonigle Medical Associates Medical Building. A newly constructed 5,000 square foot State of the Art Medical facility serving the Smithtown Area. Dr McMonigle has built an amazing reputation in the Medical community. She receives referrals from Primary Care Physicians, other Neurologists, and a variety of other Medical Specialists in the Long Island Area.
In 2019 Dr. McMonigle enrolled in Harvard Business school and completed classes in accounting, business analytics and economics earning a certificate of readiness from the school.
Dr. McMonigle currently resides in Fort Salonga with her family. She studies Martial Arts and is an avid animal lover.
Dr. Patrice Hood
Dr. Hood has been a New Yorker all her life. She attended Molloy College and achieved a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. She continued at Molloy College and received a Masters of Science degree in Nursing Education & Leadership. She continued at Stonybrook University and completed a post master’s certificate as an Adult Nurse Practitioner. She continued to Adelphi University and received a post master’s certificate as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She continued to Case Western Reserve University and received a Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP) in Nursing Education & Leadership.
Dr. Hood has practiced in acute care, primary care and long term care. Dr. Hood is certified as an Adult Nurse Practitioner and Family Nurse Practitioner, a Certified Diabetic Educator and Certified Asthma Educator, and a Certified Wound Care Specialist, BLS and ACLS certified.
Dr. Hood has been a professor teaching undergraduate nursing- at Molloy College and NYIT, continues to teach in the graduate nurse practitioner education FNP program at Stonybrook University. Dr. Hood has been a member of Doctoral committees and mentored to two DNP students. Dr. Hood has mentored nurse practitioner students in private practice over her twenty four years as a ANP/FNP. Dr. Hood tutors nursing students attending- undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programs.
Dr. Hood has been a past president of Long Island Nurse Practitioner Association, and a past Regional Representative for Long Island at the New York State Nurse Practitioner Association. At the federal level Dr. Hood has been a past Board Member in the American College of Nurse Practitioners. Dr. Hood has presented podium and poster presentations locally, nationally and internationally. Doctor Hood has published several professional articles. Dr. Hood is published several professional journal articles. Dr. Hood has participated as an expert on the osteoarthritis guidelines team at the Hospital for Special Surgery representing the ACNP organization. Dr. Hood is currently a member of the Asthma Association of Long Island and has been a past member of the professional education committee. Dr. Hood has received two grants from NYIT for simulation projects.
Dr. Hood is a member of the Nurse Practitioner Association of New York and the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, Sigma Theta Tau Association, and the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners.
Dr. Hood currently lives in Deer Park with her husband. She has a son and daughter and two granddaughters. Dr. Hood enjoys traveling, reading, sewing, gardening and watching her grandchildren.
Jennifer Moldovan, PA
Jennifer Moldovan grew up in Brooklyn and attended the prestigious Bronx High School of Science. From there she went to Worcester Polytechnic Institute and earned her Bachelors degree in Biology. Finally she went to Hofstra University through the Physician Assistant program and graduated in 2007. She did a variety of internships in different specialties in hospitals and clinics throughout Long Island, and finally settled on Internal Medicine because it offered a wide variety of diseases to cure.
Jennifer currently lives in West Islip with her husband and daughter. In her free time she enjoys dancing and playing with her dogs.
Ashley Kump, NP
Ashley Kump ANP RN,BSN graduated from Molloy College in 2010 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. Upon becoming certified as a Registered Nurse, Ashley spent the next four and a half years working on a medicine/acute care floor at Stony Brook University Hospital.
Ashley went on to obtain her Masters Degree in Nursing, obtaining her Nurse Practitioner certification through State University of New York at Stonybrook. Ashley is currently an active member of the NP Association of Long Island.
Ashley enjoys spending her free time enjoying the outdoors, traveling, and spending quality time with her family and friends.
Malissa Marie Aponte, NP
Malissa Marie Aponte, MS, RN, FNP-C graduated from Molloy College in 2014 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. While attaining her Bachelor’s Degree, Malissa had a successful career as a Senior Personal Financial Representative working for JP Morgan Chase and TD Bank. Malissa enjoyed her career as a banker; she loved helping her customers reach their financial goals. Even though Malissa loved her career in banking, she always wanted to be a nurse. Malissa knew that by becoming a nurse she would be able to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.
Once Malissa became a registered nurse (RN), she worked on a busy Medicine/Telemetry Unit at Stony Brook University Hospital. There she discovered her true passion; caring for others and helping them achieve their health goals through education, understanding, and kindness. Malissa understands that to truly make an impact on someone’s health, one must understand who that person is as an individual and get to know their wants, needs, and lifestyle.
While working as an RN at Stony Brook University Hospital, Malissa went on to obtain her Masters Degree in Science from the State University of New York at Stony Brook as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Malissa is a current member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing and the NP Association of Long Island.
Malissa is happily married with 3 children. She loves cooking, nature, and spending time with family and friends.
